When Honda CBR1000RR Fireblades comes to litre-class superbikes, the BMW S1000RR, Aprilia RSV4 and the Yamaha R1 are just about the hottest machines right now. And, of course, there’s the Ducati 1198R for those who’d rather have an Italian V-twin rather than a four-cylinder engine.
So where does that leave older bikes like the Honda Fireblade? For a long time, the CBR1000RR has been one of the best all-around sportsbikes that work equally well on the track and the street. Honda have made some improvements to the 2010-spec ’Blade to make sure the bike doesn’t fall too far behind its newer, harder-edged competition. Motociclismo recently tested the 2010 CBR1000RR and here are some excerpts from what they have to say about the bike:
The Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade Hutchy comes with pearlescent white paint scheme featuring a map of the 37.73-mile Isle of Man TT course. Both sides of the bike wear a commemorative decal which illustrates the rider's five victories.
The Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade McGuinness comes with a paint-scheme that replicates the look of a pint. John McGuinness used to wear the representation of a pint of the beer on his leathers. The Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade McGuinness also has representations of the a gold map of the TT course and the 131.578mph lap record.
Honda UK has unveiled today two CBR1000RR Fireblades Special Editions - one ‘Hutchy’ and one ‘McGuinness’ – to commemorate the achievements of these two legendary TT road racers. Both bikes feature awesome special-edition paintwork celebrating Honda’s amazingly successful Isle of Man TT campaigns with two record-breaking riders: Ian Hutchinson and John McGuinness.
